Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, asked the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority to develop Ibrahimpatnam Lake.
On the 14th of October, Friday, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President suggested the HMDA to explore the possibility of developing Ibrahimpatnam Lake as a tourist spot.
The suggestion of Mr. K.T. Rama Rao came after a Twitter user requested the TRS Minister to look into the expansion of the water body. Tagging the Ministry of Urban Development and Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Twitter user wrote, “This lake can be developed into a perfect weekend getaway if the tourism department considers building a resort with boating, kayaking, parasailing and other activities (sic.)”
Located at Outer Ring Road, Telangana, the Ibrahimpatnam Lake was built by Ibrahim Qutb Shah, during his reign between 1550 and 1580 AD. If expanded and developed, the lake could be a major tourist spot for people in Telangana and those coming to Telangana.
However, as of now, only a suggestion has been given to the HMDA, a final decision regarding the Ibrahimpatnam lake expansion as a tourist spot is awaited.
