K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 5th of March took a dig at the Central Government.
Mr. Rao, criticised the Central Government over their Atmanirbhar Bharat slogans. The Telangana Minister said, ‘Atma Nirbhar’ (self-reliant) India won’t happen by “sloganeering.”
Telangana Information Technology and Municipal Administration Minister said, “We have allotted 12,000 acres of pharma land (for Pharma City) but there is no assistance from the Modi government.”
The statements and the comments were made during a meeting organised by the CII Telangana. During the meeting, Mr. Rao appealed to the Central Government to work together for the betterment of the economic situation, especially when India is being hit by the pandemic.
He appealed to the Centre to work with the State Government and put politics aside.
KTR also complained that despite Hyderabad being the “vaccine capital” of the world, producing 39% of all the vaccines, the State still has to send it 1200 kilometres away to a”storeroom”, or the facility where the COVID-19 vaccines are being sold.
Mr. Rao asked, “Why can’t they just provide us with a facility?” He further said, “Make in India bolne se kuch nai hota (Nothing will happen just by saying make India.)”
KTR’s comments came at a time, when the State is preparing for the Graduate Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) elections in two seats.
Over the past few days, he and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Bandi Sanjay, were involved in a war of words over the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR.) The IT minister asked Mr. Bandi Sanjay to apologise to the people for failing to bring ITIR here.
Meanwhile, the Graduate MLC elections are scheduled on the 14th of March.
