For the Munugode Assembly by election, a total of 130 candidates have filed their nominations in Telangana.
On the 15th of October, Saturday, the Election Commission official confirmed the 130 nominations received for the Munugode by election. Notably, the last date of filing nomination for the Munugode by election was on the 14th of October. Moreover, the candidates who wished to withdraw from the election can withdraw tyheir papers until the 17th of October.
Moreover, of the 130 candidates, three are from the main political parties, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.) The three candidates of the main political parties are; Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy (BJP,) Mr. Prabhakar Reddy (TRS) and Ms. Pallavi Sravanthi (INC.)
In addition, the remaining candidates are either from smaller parties like the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS,) the Bahuhjan Samaj Party (BSP) or independent candidates.
The Election Returning Officer said this is the highest number of nominations filed for the constituency in more than two decades. Last, in 1996, a record of 480 nominations were filed, following which, now in 2022, more than 130 nomination papers were filed for the Munugode Assembly constituency.
It is to be noted, after the resignation of Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy (the former Indian National Congress leader) as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Munugode, the seat fell vacant, paving the way for a by election.
Meanwhile, the Munugode by election are scheduled to be held on the 3rd of November, whereas the results would be announced on the 6th of November.
