On the 9th of June, Telangana’s Warangal district reported the 1st case of the Novel Coronavirus after being a Coronavirus free district of Telangana.

Recently, with precautions and preventive measures, Warangal was declared as the Coronavirus free district of Telangana.   However, with the rise of COVID-19 cases and Warangal with one such case, Telangana has zero COVID-19 free districts.

In the month of May, Yadadri and Warangal rural were the two districts with zero positive COVID-19 cases. While Yadadri lost the designation of being Coronavirus free two weeks back, Warangal once again became COVID-19 affected area on the 9th of June.

A man hailing from Upparpally of Chennaraopet mandal of Warangal rural district has tested positive for coronavirus.  He went back to his native place a few days ago and tested positive after coming back from Hyderabad. His family members and primary contacts were shifted to quarantine centres.

Meanwhile, on the 9th of June, Telangana reported 178 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus.  Out of the total, 143 are from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) which is a containment zone for the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

With these updates, Telangana has a total of 3,920 positive cases, out of which 2,030 are active cases, 1,742 recovered/discharged and 148 deceased.
