Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the victims of a road accident in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana.

On the evening of the 23rd of July, seven people died and one sustained serious injuries when two speeding cars collided. The incident took place at the Hajipur area of Nagarkurnool district, Telangana.

Mr. Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter handle and said, “Condolences to those who lost their loved ones in an accident in Nagarkurnool, Telangana. May the injured recover at the earliest. From the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured.”

The amount of Rs. 2 lakh each to be given to the families of 7 deceased people, whereas Rs. 50,000 would be given to the one injured person.

Besides PM Modi, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, also expressed grief over the death of the 7 people in the Nagarkurnool incident.

Meanwhile, acting upon the incident, the Telangana Police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.) In a statement regarding the same, the State Police said, “Seven people killed, one injured in a collision between two speeding cars at Hajipur in Nagarkurnool district. A case is being registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and further probe is on.”

As of now, the Police were able to identify only four victims. The four victims were identified as Vamsi of Jeedimetla, Venkat of Nizampet, Naresh of Patancheru and Siva Kumar of Anand Bagh. The identities of the other four in the accident are yet to be known.

The case is being investigated by Y. Sai Sekhar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nagarkurnool district.

The investigation is underway.
