Khairatabad: For the first ever time in the past decade Khairatabad Ganesh has reached Tank Bund before 12:00 A.M., on 15th of September. Every year since the beginning, more than a decade, the immersion of the huge idols of Ganesh of Khairtabad, never took place on time. It would block the whole way and create all manner of problems to the commuters and the next morning the idol would be a part of the immersion program.
But, for the first ever time the procession started around 8:30 A.M., and the immersion was done by 1:55 P.M.. This stands to break all the records of the Khairtabad procession timings.
Telangana state police were keen on completing the procession by afternoon and just for this schedule the various idols from different corners of the city were divided into 3 slots and Khairatabad was in the 1st slot. It was always Kairatabad Ganesh to reach Tank Bund in the end though he is the closest huge idol to the immersion area.
It is already known that the idol height has been decreasing since last year– the idol marks the height of 58 ft.. The height was increased up to 60 ft., and now the committee has taken the decision to reduce the height every year. Adding to this, the changes made in the procession of the idol on the immersion day marks a whole different view of the 9th day during Vinayaka Chaturthi. The laddu which is placed in the hand of Khairatabad Ganesha has also not been placed for long in his hand due to inclement weather.
