In Telangana, Hyderabad, Yerukali Srinu (47) was announced to lifetime imprisonment for murdering women in the Telugu State. On the 27th of May, Friday, the Jogulamba Gadwal district court announced the verdict.
Notably, the district court’s Additional District Magistrate sentenced lifetime imprisonment in the murder case of Chitti Alivelamma, a 53-year-old woman and one of the targets of Srinu.
According to sources, Srinu has killed 17 women in the State in the past year and is known as a serial killer. Srinu, addicted to liquor, would befriend women who come to toddy shops to drink, would take them out to isolated places in the name of picnic, and after drinking with them would kill them and decamp with their gold and silver ornaments.
The serial killer was arrested in 2019 in Alivelamma’s murder case and it is then the police got to know about other 16 murders by him.
Furthermore, Yerukali Srinu also has a criminal record and has been jailed in 2009 for killing his brother but was given remission in 2013 for good conduct in jail. Then again, he was jailed for several other crimes and was released in 2018.
After being out of jail, he once again started committing crimes and in just one year, from 2018 to 2019, killed 17 women including the last murder of Chitti Alivelamma, which was solved by the Telangana Police.
