In Telangana’s Suryapet, a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader’s son has been arrested in allegations of rape and abduction.
On the 20th of April, a 20 year old woman, filed a complaint that two men drugged her, kidnapped her in an autorickshaw and gang raped her for two days in a house in Kodad town of Suryapet, Telangana. Acting upon the registered First Information Report (FIR,) the Suryapet Police arrested two people, including the son of a local Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader. The arrested people were identified as Sheik Ghouse Pasha, the son of a municipal ward member from the TRS Mr. Mohd Khaja, and his accomplice Mr. Sairam Reddy.
According to sources, the woman said, she was kidnapped at around 9:30 P.M., on the 15th of April. She further added that the accused gave her a soft drink laced with a sedative and was held captive. She was also beaten up and repeatedly sexually abused for the next two days. The victim said, “They beat me so badly I was unconscious. It is only after my brothers rescued me that I could complain to the police.”
Commenting on the incident, Mr. Bachu Srinivas, a TRS leader said, “They are going to be punished, whoever they may be, even if it is a TRS leader’s son or a BJP leader’s son, we are humans first.”
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the investigation into the matter is underway.
