Student Attempts Suicide for Getting Caught Cheating in Exams

On Tuesday, a class 10th student in Hyderabad attempted suicide by jumping off the building after getting caught for cheating in exams. This incident took place at a High School in Kanchanbagh wherein Santoshnagar school students were slotted to take the exam.

The student is currently at the Apollo hospital in Kanchanbagh area and is undergoing treatment. The father has refused to admit that his son had been caught for malpractice. The father also alleged that the school is making a  false accusations as his son was always at top of the class and a brilliant student.

The father added, “The school management claims that he had chits and hence was summoned by the administration. According to them, that is why my son ran up and jumped. I ask them, why did they not send the boy back if he was attempting malpractice?” The minor is critical and had suffered injuries on his back and hands. The father added, “Doctors have informed that he has a number of internal injuries and at least three surgeries need to be performed. We are seeking a second opinion.”

The Police had filed a case at the Kanchanbagh police station under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and have started investigating the case. N. Shankar, the Inspector of the police station in Kanchanbagh said, “The entire episode of the invigilator identifying the boy during malpractice is recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the exam hall. The boy requested to allow him to go the washroom and went upstairs and jumped.”
The police also said that the High School where the boy has attempted the suicide attempt had agreed to bear all the medical expenses of the student on humanitarian grounds.
