Telangana BJP MLA Mr. Thakur Raja Singh Lodh was arrested on the 23rd of August, Tuesday for remarks allegedly directed against Prophet Mohammed, the Hyderabad police said.
Hours after the arrest of Mr. T. Raja Singh and the criticism from netizens and opposition parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended him.
It is to be noted, Mr. Raja Singh made the remarks in a video while attacking stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, who recently performed in the city of Hyderabad.
While Singh, popularly known as Raja Bhaiya and Tiger Raja, tried to defend it as a “comedy video”, saying he made no mention of the Prophet, police registered cases against him after protests by Muslim organisations.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against Mr. T. Harish Raja Singh and he has been sent to a 14 days judicial custody.
Notably, the City Police produced Mr. Raja Singh before the Nampally Court, where the magistrate remanded him 14-days judicial custody.
Fourteenth Additional Metropolitan Magistrate remanded Raja Singh to judicial custody for two weeks. He is likely to be shifted to Chanchalguda Central Prison.
