The Telangana Police, on the 19th of October, arrested several political leaders of the opposition parties who participated in the strike.
On the 19th of October, taxi drivers working for Ola, Uber and IT companies called for a strike against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.) The reason for the strike were pending demands of the drivers, including a meter system and a fixed rate of Rs. 22 per km.
The Telangana Police arrested Professor Kodandaram, the President of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS,) L. Ramana and Ravula Chandra Shekar Reddy of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)
As of now, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the Taxi Drivers’ JAC are on an indefinite strike. The TSRTC JAC went on strike on the 5th of October and entered its 14th day on the 19th of October.
