The Telangana Police put Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under house arrest/.
The arrest came hours ahead of his Praja Sangrama Yatra, scheduled to begin its fifth phase from the 28th of November, Monday.
The State police stopped Mr. Bandi Sajay Kumar when he was proceeding towards Bhainsa town to launch the fifth phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra.’
After denying permission for the yatra and the public meeting in Bhainsa town of Nirmal district, police stopped Bandi Sanjay and other leaders and party workers accompanying him and sent them back.
The convoy of Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, was forced to stop near Tatipalli in Jagtial Mandal, said sources. In addition, the Telangana Police also asked Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar ro return back and not launch the yatra, citing no permission as a reason. Later, the police even put Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar under house arrest.
Mr. Sanjay Bandi Kumar, disappointed with the State Police said, “They are saying Bhaina is a sensitive place. Is Bhainsa some prohibited area?” Furthermore, the Telangana BJP Chief said he was returning to Karimnagar at the request of the police and would wait till Monday afternoon.
Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar also vowed to go ahead with the Yatra. In addition, the Telangana BJP unit said they would approach the Telangana High Court, seeking direction to the State Poice, asking to permit the 5th phase of the Praja Sangrama Yatra.
