After the recent, Graduate Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections in Telangana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to start campaigning for the upcoming Naharjuna Sagar by elections.
As per the sources, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the BJP in Telangana unit, is going to organise a padyatra. In regard to this, Mr. Sanjay met the leaders of Nalgonda and is planning to secure a win for the Party in the bypoll at any cost. However, the details of the planned of the padyatra is yet to be official and awaited.
After winning the Dubbaka by elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is focusing to win another constituency in Naharjuna Sagar. It is likely to have tough fight between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the BJP.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress party already announced Jana Reddy as its candidate. The TRS is likely to give a ticket to Nomula Narsimhaiah’s wife and BJP is yet to announce a candidate.
The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat of the Nagarjunasagar constituency fell vacant after the demise of its MLA. On the 1st of December, 2020, Nomula Narsimhaiah, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Nagarjunasagar, Nalgonda district passed away. He died during the early hours of the day while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness. Since then, the constituency has been without a MLA.
The announcement of the INC candidate came a day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the by election schedule. On the 16th of March, the ECI announced the schedule for Nagarjunasagar and Tirupati by elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively. The Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency would conduct its by election on the 17th of April. Candidates could file their nomination papers till the 30th of March.
On March 31, the nomination papers will be scrutinized and the candidates are allowed to withdraw their nominations on the 3rd of April.
The results for the two constituencies would be announced on the 2nd of May.
