The people of Telangana are celebrating the 9th Telangana Formation Day on the 2nd of June, 2022.   The day marks the existence of Telangana as an independent state when it officially was separated from Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)

On the 2nd of June, 2014, Telangana emerged as a separate State from the united Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of Parliament in 2014.  Though the Telangana Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in February 2014, it got approval from the President of India on the 1st March 2014.  Later, the Government of India declared the 2nd of June as the Telangana Formation Day.

The celebration started at the Legislative Assembly with the National Flag hoisting ceremony.  The TRS Council Chairman Mr. Gutta Sukhendar Reddy at the Legislative Council premises and Speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy at the Assembly premises hoisted the national flags.

Later, tributes were paid to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Assembly premises.  The Members of the Legislative Councils (MLCs) like Mr. V. Gangadhar Goud, Mr. Naveen Kumar, Mr. L. Ramana, Mr. Dande Vithal, Mr. Sheri Subhash Reddy, Mr. Raghothama Reddy, the State Assembly Secretary Mr. Charyulu, the TRS Legislative Party (LP) Secretary Ramesh Reddy and others participated in the event.

Meanwhile, massive arrangements have been made for the celebration of the Telangana Formation Day.  After the two years of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, this is the first grand celebration for the State Formation Day.  The event would be held at Nampally Public Gardens, Hyderabad.

At 9:00 A.M., Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, unveiled the national flag and addressed the public.  Ahead of the Public Garden event, KCR visited to the Martyrs’ statue in Gun Park and paid tribute.

Furthermore, Ms. Tamilsai Soundarajan, the Governor of Telangana, would hold the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan.  As part of the celebrations, the Governor would honor 12 Telangana children who have excelled in various fields.  The event at the Raj Bhavan, which started at 8:30 A.M., would continue till 11:00 A.M.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the Telangana Formation Day would also be celebrated in Delhi, after the Telangana Government established its office in Delhi.  The TRS leaders in Delhi had organised an event at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi at 6:30 P.M.  Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister would attend the event as the Chief Guest.
