Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced to shut schools and educational institutions, amid heavy rainfall in the State.

On the 10th of July, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, all schools and educational institutions will remain shut on the 11th of July, the 12th of July and the 13th of July, due to heavy rains across the State.  The decision was taken after a high level meeting, chaired by the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Telangana CM Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Held on the 10th of July, the meeting was organised at Pragathi Bhavan, with the participation of State Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) TRS officials and State cabinet ministers.

During the meeting, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao reviewed the impact of rains and floods on irrigation projects and tanks.  Government officials were asked to remain alert, as well as initiate precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property due to the incessant rains.

After the meeting, CM KCR addressed a press conference and gave an update about the flor and rainfall situations, and assured the safety of people residing in the low lying and isolated regions of Telangana.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao also ordered the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF,) the State DRF and other rescue teams, as well as helicopters, for rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for heavy rainfall to many Indian states, including Telangana.
