A massive explosion in Telangana’s Khammam region killed two people, leaving more than 10 people with grave injuries.

On the 12th of April, Wednesday, several cylinders exploded because of the use of firecrackers at the regular Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) event, confirmed sources.  Getting into details, in Khammam district’s Karepalli Mandal, an event of Atmiya Sammelan, organised by the ruling BRS Government was held.   According to sources, it was a regular BRS event, ‘Atmiya Sammelan’, where activists and people were peacefully taking part in a spiritual assembly under the leadership of Mr. Ramulunayak, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Khammam and Mr. Nama Nageswara Rao, the Member of Parliament (MP.)

During the event, the party workers burnt firecrackers, which led to  a thatched hut catching fire.   Due to the fire, several cylinders stored inside the hut exploded, killing one person on the spot and seriously injuring more than 10 others, including two journalists and two police officers.

The injured people have been shifted to the Khammam district government hospital for treatment.
