In Telangana, the State Director General of Police Mr. M. Mahender Reddy suspended Ibrahimpatnam Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. Balakrishna Reddy.
The suspension came on the 23rd of April, on the charges of dereliction of duty and for allegedly being involved in corruption. Getting into the details, Mr. Balakrishna Reddy showed negligence in the investigation of the double murder case of two realtors Mr. Srinivas Reddy and Mr. Raghavendra Reddy at Ibrahimpatnam. The two murders happened earlier in 2022 and was suspected to be a case due to land dispute.
Besides negligence in the investigation, the Ibrahimpatnam ACP was also alleged of accepting favours from the prime suspect in the realtor dual murder case, Mr. M. Matta Reddy. As per the investigation, Mr. Srinivas Reddy had leased around 20 acres of land in Kharmanguda in Ibrahimpatnam, which he turned into agricultural fields and had been taking care of the cultivation personally. However, Matta Redd’s land was next to this 20 acres of land, due to which a dispute between the two was going on. In addition, Mr. Matta Reddy allegedly grabbed some of Srinivas’s land and started construction activities. An important piece of information to notice is that Mr. Balakrishna Reddy is said to have taken the favours prior to the murder.
Based on the aforementioned allegations, the Telangana Police Department suspended the ACP and launched an inquiry against Mr. Balakrishna Reddy.
