The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led Telangana Government has deposited Rs.7,411.52 crore into the accounts of 62.99 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.
This aid will cover 1,48,23, 000 acres across the State. Among the districts, Nalgonda district received the highest Rythu Bandhu assistance of Rs.601.74 crore and 4,69,696 farmers benefited through the assistance. The lowest was in Medchal Malkajgiri district, wherein, Rs.33.65 crore was deposited into the accounts of 33,452 farmers.
While announcing the money deposit, Mr. S. Niranjan Reddy, the Agriculture Minister of Telangana, asked the Central Government to come up with a national policy for the welfare of the farming community. He said, farmers were facing a lot of problems due to shortage of farm laborers. He further said, the Central Government should synchronize NREGS with the agriculture sector for the benefit of farmers.
State Government’s should declare Minimum Support Price (MSP) considering the crops cultivation and other factors in the region. Centre should procure the entire produce at MSP, he said, adding “Central Government should implement the Swaminathan committee recommendations,”.
The Centre should change its approach towards the agriculture sector on which 60 percent of the population is dependent on the country.
