The Telangana Government on the 20th of April, announced to impose night curfew in the State.

The decision was taken in the wake of the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in the State. An official notification regarding the same was released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Telangana.

The official notice issued was signed by the Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar. According to the released notice, the night curfew would be imposed with immediate effect till the 30th of April.

The night curfew would begin from 9:00 P.M., till 5:00 A.M., the next day. All non essential services, cinemas, restaurants, clubs and shops should be closed by 8:00 P.M.

However, essential services like hospitals, labs and chemist shops are exempted from the imposed curfew.

Electronic media, print media, delivery of e goods, gas cylinders, petrol pumps and other services like security providers, power generation providers, water supplier and sanitation staff would be functional amid the imposed curfew.

In addition, staff working with the allowed service provider agencies, doctors, medical staff, patients, people travelling to airport/railway stations with valid tickets, government officials and others would be allowed amid curfew.

The decision to impose the curfew came a day after the Telangana High Court reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.

The HC lashed out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for not taking appropriate measures to control the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. In the past few days, the State has been witnessing a minimum of 4,000 cases on a regular basis. With this, till date, Telangana reported more than 39,000 active cases.
