Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar, Mahender Reddy, the Director General of Police and Health principal secretary Shanti Kumari, on the 22nd of April, visited Suryapet.
The inspection visit was organised in the containment cluster for the spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection in Suryapet district of Telangana.
Somesh Kumar and Mahender Reddy reviewed the current situation in Suryapet and examined all the precautionary measures taken to curb the spread of the virus.
The visit came after a directive of K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana. KCR, on the 21st of April, directed the top officials to visit Suryapet, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases after Hyderabad.
Mr. Kumar and Mr. Reddy went to Suryapet district in a special helicopter and landed in SV College ground. Both the officials visited the vegetable market, fruit market and other areas in the district.
The district officials who accompanied Somesh Kumar and Mahender Reddy explained all the precautionary measures taken in the containment areas through a map and assured implementation of guidelines of the lockdown. The officials conducted a review meeting with Vinay Krishna Reddy, the District Collector, Superintendent of Police Bhaskaran and other officials after reviewing the area in a ground level phase.
According to officials, 57 positive cases were reported in the district during the last six days, whereas 26 cases on the 21st of April. A total of 210 people are under quarantine at government-run centres while 4,346 are home quarantined. With these updates, Suryapet has a total of 83 positive cases for the Coronavirus.
After reviewing the situation in Suryapet, Somesh Kumar, Mahender Reddy and Shanti Kumari left for Jogulamba Gadwal and Vikarabad districts.
