The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, on the 8th of March, declared a special holiday for all government employees in the State.

The Telangana Chief Secretary Mr. Somesh Kumar issued a ‘Government Order’ (GO) for special casual leave for all women employees on Tuesday, the 8th of March.

In addition, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, greeted women on the occasion of women’s day.  He said, with the special holiday for women, the State Government is respecting its women.  He said, “Women are playing an equal role with men in all the sectors.  Telangana State Government has imbibed the world view of a woman who while setting her family in order, like a mother would work for the well-being of everybody with humanity and a visionary approach.

Highlighting the efforts of the Telangana Government, towards the development of women, with various welfare schemes, CM KCR said, “The State Government is working relentlessly for the development and welfare of the oppressed classes, Dalits, farmers.  For the welfare of women and their development, the state government had initiated several schemes and programmes.”

Furthermore, KCR said that since the formation of the TRS Government, approximately, 10 lakh mothers were benefited through KCR Kits with financial and other benefits, with programmes like Arogya Laxmi, Amma Vodi, Old aged mothers, Beedi women workers, single woman, providing pensions every month.

Concluding, KCR said, “With a lot of women oriented schemes and programmes, the Telangana State Government has got good results in balancing the men-women ratio and it gave 50 per cent reservation for women in the local bodies.  It is the only state providing such a reservation in the country.” 

On Tuesday, Women’s Day is being celebrated worldwide.  The Government of India and respective state governments arranged various events and announced schemes, focusing on women empowerment and growth of women in India.
