To control the rain and flood situations, the Telangana Government opened all the 85 gates of Lakshmi Barrage, to release the overflow of flood water.

On the 14th of July, amid continuous rainfall in the Telugu State of Telangana, the barrages in the Kaleshwaram project recorded a record level inflow of 22,15,760 cusecs, coming into Medigadda barrage.   Furthermore, approximately 14,77,975 cusecs of water were coming to Annaram Saraswati Barrage, which was later downstream by the Telangana authorities.

In addition, the heavy rainfall also resulted in a heavy flow of Godavari River water and Pranahita River water, recording the highest flow, at Kaleswaram.

Concerned with the situation, the State authorities have announced a red alert in Mahadevapur and Kaleshwaram Godavari catchment areas.  The flood water that inundated the Pushkarghats entered the nearby houses, also troubling residents in flooded areas.

In addition, under the supervision of Mr. Puvvada Ajay Kumar, the Transport Minister of Telangana, many residents of the low-lying areas have been evacuated by the concerned authorities.  Moreover, a police presence was arranged to prevent anyone from coming to the Kaleswaram Ghat.

On the other hand, the Telangana Irrigation department officials issued a danger alert, after the Godavari water level at Bhadrachalam reached 60.30 feet, the highest since 1983.

In the region, approximately 18.16 lakh cusecs of water are currently flowing into the Godavari River, which is likely to increase, as the Indian Meteorological Department predicted rainfall for the next 2-3 days.

On the other hand, the Telangana Government has declared holidays for schools and educational institutions and alerted people not to venture out.
