The Telangana High Court (HC) reviewed a writ petition filed in the poaching of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Case.

On the 26th of December, Monday, the Telangana High Court ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the controversial case.   The decision was given by the High Court bench, after it heard the petition of Mr. Ramachandra Bharati, Mr. Simhayaji and Mr. Nanda Kumar, three accused arrested in the case.  It is to be noted, BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy alleged that the BJP leaders in Telangana were trying to poach four of the BRS MLAs.  In this case, the Telangana Police arrested three prime accused Mr. Ramachndra, Mr. Simhayaji and Mr. Nanda Kumar in the case for offering Rs. 100 crores to the BRS leaders.

It is to be noted, the High Court bench also quashed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the K. Chandrashekar Rao led BRS Government in Telangana.  The High Court in its order said with this, the probe done by the SIT team in the case would also be dismissed.

While the judgement disappointed the BRS Government, it was welcomed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana.

Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Home Minister for State and Cultural and Tourism Minister of India, welcomed the Telangana High Court’s decision.  He said, “High Court quashing the very constitution of SIT in the fabricated ‘MLAs’ purchase case’ is a slap in the face of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s government.”

As of now, the case was investigated by the SIT, which would now be shifted to the CBI.
