Normal life came to a standstill in the Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, amid flood like situations due to heavy to very heavy rainfall.  

On the evening of the 29th of September, Friday, heavy rains lashed the Mahabubnagar district, which caused water logging, potholes and other vehicular movement issues to the residents.  In addition, flooding of roads and streets was also reported in the low lying areas, in Mahabubnagar and its surrounding mandals.  

Taking the stock of the situation, the Mahabubnagar Municipal Corporation swung into action to control the floods and make ease for the resident of the Mahabubnagar district.  The Municipal Corporation officials alerted their wings to be on high alert to tackle any incident on the ground, especially in the low lying regions. 

Mr. Srinivas Goud, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Minister, who is currently in Ahmedabad also took stock of the situation over video call and gave directions to the district authorities.  

Moreover,  Mr. Tejas Nandal Pawar, the Additional Collector of Mahabubnagar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. Venkateshwarlu, Mr. K.C. Narsimhulu, the Municipal Chairman of the Mahabubnagar district, the Municipal Commissioner Mr. Pradeep, fire brigade, municipal and police personnel also visited the flood hit areas and took preventive measures.

Areas such as Ramayya Bowli, BK Reddy Colony, Vallabh Nagar, Shivashakti Nagar and others were inspected by the concerned officials, following which relief works and evacuation started.

Meanwhile, according to the Hyderabad Metrological Department, the district received a heavy downpour of more than 10 to 15 cm of rainfall in just half an hour span, with flash floods.  Furthermore, heavy to moderate rainfall is expected in the Mahabubnagar district, for the next 24 to 48 hours.
