The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) ordered the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry to submit a report regarding the proposal of the Telangana Government for setting up an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the State.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government recently requested the Central Government to approve an IIM for Telangana.
Though the IIM should be in Andhra Pradesh as per the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 and a tribal university and horticulture university in Telangana, the TRS specially requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve an IIM for Telangana.
The PMO asked the HRD Ministry to take a final decision within a week.
If approved, the IIM would be situated in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana.
