Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka, the Telangana Congress Legislature Party leader, alleged that Tribals in Telangana have been stripped of their rights except for the right to vote.

Addressing the media, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka said, the Telangana Government under the leadership of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao gave nothing to tribals, but only voting rights.  He further highlighted the struggles of the tribals in Asifabad constituency and blamed the ruling government, which did not give wanted development to the tribals.

Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka said that the local people were not getting any benefits such as ration cards, pensions, pattas, jobs, health or water for irrigation.  He said that the situation of common people, especially the Tribals have worsened during the last nine years.   Blaming the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government for this, the TPCC leader said, the BRS Government removed tribals from the forest of the erstwhile undivided Adilabad district.  He also noted the abolishment of the Assigning Committee system established during the Congress period, which aimed to distribute government land to the poor and tribals annually.

The statements were made during an event organized to mark the People’s March as part of Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra.  During the last 12 days, Bhatti Vikarmarka has covered parts of Adilabad, Nirmal and Komaram Bheem Asifabad district and now his padayatra would enter the Mancherial District.

Ahead of the elections, Mr. Bhatti Vikram also mentioned how the TPCC is making efforts to make the lives of tribals better in Asifabad.  Furthermore, the TPCC also asked for votes of the tribals to the Congress, and make the party win the district.

The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled in 2023 April-May.  The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates for the State Assembly elections.
