The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is officially the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) now. On the 9th of December, the Election Commission of India (ECI) permitted the new name from the TRS to the BRS.
With this, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led now BRS party is all set to enter national politics against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) After this milestone, the TRS now known as the BRS party is expected to contest the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, the Telugu State party which is aiming to go national is expected to contest in the assembly constituencies, targeting the farming sector and farmers for votes. Notably, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would contest state assembly elections in 2023.
Furthermore, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to hold a meeting on the 9th of December, which would be the first meeting of the newly named BRS party. The state Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) the Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs,) ministers and other leaders would attend the meeting. During the meeting, the party is scheduled to discuss the future course of action.
The KCR led TRS Government is also expected to contest the 2024 National elections against the Narendra Modi led BJP.
