The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders and activists staged a protest on the 23rd of February, Wednesday, in Khammam district, Telangana.
The protest was organized to demand for a steel plant in Bayyaram. Notably, the ruling TRS Government called for the protests after the Central Government refused to give the Bayyaram steel factory.
According to sources, on the 22nd of February, Tuesday, the Home Minister of Telangana State Mr. G. Kishan Reddy said that it is not feasible to give the steel factory to Bayyaram. Although the Central Government promised to establish a steel factory in Bayyaram under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014, it refused to establish the factory due to uncertain issues.
Responding to the refusal, the Member of the Parliament (MP) Ms. Malothu Kavitha, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Ms. Haripriya Naik, Mr. Shankar Naik, Mr. Rega Kantharao, Mr. Redya Naik, the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Mr. Ravindar Rao, and Zila Parishad (ZP) Chairman Ms. Bindu participated in the protests.
The protest which started today morning continued till 3:00 P.M.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nama Nageshwara Rao, the TRS Floor Leader said that he would confront the Centre in Lok Sabha over the steel plant.
With the refusal of the steel plant, many locals of Bayyaram, who waited for the steel factory for job opportunities would now be disappointed.
