The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao finalised the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) candidates for the upcoming MLC election.

The TRS senior leaders like Mr. Kadiyam Srihari, Mr. Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary, Mr. Takkalapalli Ravinder Rao, Mr. Gutta Sukhendar Reddy, Mr. L. Ramana, Mr. Koti Reddy and Padi Kaushik Reddy are to be fielded as the MLC candidates for the election.   However, a final official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made .  The TRS is expected to win the election unopposed.  It is to be noted, there are 119 MLA seats, of which the TRS has 104 members, the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has 7 members, the Indian National Congress (INC) has 6 members and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 2 seats.

The majority of MLA seats are with the TRS, therefore, the MLC candidates of the TRS are likely to get the majority of seats. 

Recently, the State Election Commission (SEC,) released the election schedule for the 6 MLC seats under the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) quota.  The notification regarding the same would be released on the 9th of November.  As per the SEC, the MLC election is scheduled to be held on the 29th of November.  The announcement of the MLC election result would be announced on the evening of the 19th of November. 

The nomination of the MLC seats would begin from the 9th of November and would continue till The 16th of November.  The scrutiny of nominations would be held on the 17th of November, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is the 22nd of November.

The polling on the 29th of November would be held from 9:00 A.M., to 4:00 P.M., followed by counting of votes from 5:00 P.M., onward.

The MLC elections were announced after the tenure of the six MLCs ended on the 3rd of June, 2021.  Since June, the MLC seats under the MLA quota have been vacant.  Initially, the election was scheduled to be held early, but was postponed due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. 

However, now the COVID-19 cases are on decline and the situation is under control, the election could be held now.
