TS Tourism Chairman Appoints Alekhya Harika As TSTDC Brand Ambassador, TRS Officials Seek Explanation

The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) appointed Bigg Boss Telugu fame Alekhya Harika, as the Telangana brand ambassador.

Ms. Harika’s appointment was announced on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

The TSTDC Chairman Uppala Srinivas Gupta, on the 8th of March, handed over the letter of ambassador appointment to Harika. The letter read, “Sri Uppala Srinivas Gupta Garu, Chairman of Telangana state tourism Development corporation, appointed Miss Alekhya Harika as the new brand ambassador for TSTDC,”

The appointment made by Upoala made controversies. It is reported Ms. Harika’s appointment was made without informing officials of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the State Tourism Minister V. Srinivas Goud.

The CMO officials have reportedly sought an explanation from the TSTDC Chairman for not informing them about the decision.

In addition, the Telangana TSTDC officials on the 9th of March, even removed Harika’s name as ambassador from the official tourism website. The CMO also asked the TSTDC Chief as to who asked him to finalise the name of Harika without consultation.

The matter is still to be resolved.
