The Indian National Congress leader and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy lashed out at the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for conducting a public meeting in Holiya.  He said the continuous number of public rallies and meeting in Holiya area of Nagarjuna Sagar constituency amid the increasing cases of the Novel Coronavirus positive cases is dangerous.

Speaking to the media, Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned why KCR is conducting meeting amid increasing COVID-19 positive cases.  He also alleged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party of distributing money to gather the people for KCR’s public meeting.  He questioned, “Why people should attend the meeting whether to contract with a virus?”

Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence in the INC contestant Jana Reddy’s winning in the coming Nagarjuna Sagar By-elections.  He said the TRS considering Nagarajunasagar by-polls as an auction.  He alleged that KCR deceived Dalits in the State by failing to fulfil the promises made to them. All parties are chalking out the strategies to win the Nagarjuna Sagar by-polls.

The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat of the Nagarjuna Sagar constituency fell vacant after the demise of its MLA.  On the 1st of December, 2020, Nomula Narsimhaiah, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Nagarjuna Sagar, Nalgonda district passed away.  He died during the early hours of the day while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness.  Since then, the constituency has been without a MLA. 

In order to regain power, the TRS leaders are campaigning for its candidate, Nomula Bhagat. While Nomula Bhagat is contesting for the Nagarjuna Sagar by polls representing the TRS, Ravi Kumar would contest from the BJP and Jana Reddy from the INC.

Both the TRS and the BJP are in tough competition to win the by polls.  The Nagarjuna Sagar by polls are scheduled to be held on the 17th of April and the results would be announced on the 2nd May.
