On the 3rd of June, the families of four workers, who died in an explosion at an open cast coal mine under the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL,) staged a protest.

On the 2nd of June, 4 SCCL workers died and many were injured after an explosion occurred at an open cast coal mine at SCCL.

The state run coal mine witnessed a blast when a few workers employed by private contractors were placing detonators to break big boulders.

The families of the four deceased workers demanded good compensation and boycotted duties at SCCL in Peddapalli district.

The workers of SCCL staged a dharna in front of the mining centre and are demanding the SCCL management to pay an ex gratia and a job to one of the family members of the four deceased.

Meanwhile, the Singareni management is in talks with the representatives of the workers unions to discuss the demands of the SCCL workers.
