COVID-19 Update: With Approximately 70k New Cases, India’s Tally Soon To Cross 3 Million

In the past 24 hours, India recorded single day spike of nearly 69,317 cases. 

On the 21st of August, the Health Ministry of India, confirmed the new Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 positive cases after testing nearly 9 lakh samples.

According to released data on the official site of the Ministry of Home and Family Welfare (MHoFW) there are 29,05,823 positive cases, of which 6,92,028 are active cases, 21,58,946 are recovered cases and 54,849 deceased.

Till date India tested as many as 3,34,67,237 samples including 8,05,985 samples which were tested in the last 24 hours.

It is the third day in a row, India conducted nearly 8 lakh tests.

With these updates, 10 most affected states from the deadly COVID-19 infection are: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana, Assam and Gujarat.

Erstwhile hotspot like Delhi currently has the highest recovery rate of 90% and has only 11,271 active cases of the total 1,57,254 positive cases.

In Delhi, the Government also began the second round of sero prevalence survey. Under the sero prevalence survey, the concerned authorities would conduct five day exercise to comprehensively analyse the COVID-19 situation in Delhi. The survey began on the 20th of August.

Satyendar Jain, the Health Minister of Delhi, decided to conduct such surveys as it helped to analyse the situation and take a call accordingly.

On the global front, the number of infected have surpassed 22 million with the maximum number of cases from the United States followed by Brazil and India.

As many as 22,556,346 people around the world have been diagnosed with the disease.

While more than 15,288,855 have recovered, 789,969 have died so far.

The U.S has 5,699,221 cases, followed by Brazil, which has 3,460,413 and India with 2,905,283.

India is on the third in terms of the highest number of COVID-19 cases globally.

As cases continue to surge, pharma firms across the world are trying to develop a vaccine to treat the deadly disease and entered final phase of clinical trials.
