The Nagarjunasagar by polls nomination process is scheduled to end today, the 30th of March. On the 31st of March, the nomination papers would be scrutinized and the candidates are allowed to withdraw their nominations on the 3rd of April.
All the three major parties, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) candidates are set to file nominations.
While Nomula Bhagat is contesting as the Nagarjunasagar by polls representing the TRS, Ravi Kumar would contest from the BJP and Jana Reddy from the INC. The name of both the TRS and the BJP candidates were announced on the evening of the 29th of March. The announcement came a day ahead of the final day for filing nominations.
Today, the 30th of March is the last day for filing nomination papers for thr Nagarjuna Sagar by elections. So far, nearly 23 applications of candidates were received by the Election Commission Officer in Telangana.
23 applications include opposition parties like the INC’s Jana Reddy and other independent candidates.
The Nagarjunasagar by polls are scheduled to be held on the 17th of April.
Campaign for the one Assembly seat started in Telangana. Both the TRS and the BJP are in tough competition to win the by polls.
The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat of the Nagarjunasagar constituency fell vacant after the demise of its MLA. On the 1st of December, 2020, Nomula Narsimhaiah, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Nagarjunasagar, Nalgonda district passed away. He died during the early hours of the day while undergoing treatment for prolonged illness. Since then, the constituency has been without a MLA.
While the election is on the 17th of April, the results would be on the 2nd May.
