The Huzurabad Assembly by poll is underway in the Huzurabad constituency in Karimnagar district, Telangana.

The voting for the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat started at 7:00 A.M., today, the 30th of October.

The State Election Commission (SEC) arranged 306 polling centres for 2.37 lakh eligible voters. In order to conduct smooth and violence free polling, the SEC deployed police officials and tight security at the polling centres. In addition, the Election Commission of India (ECI) made elaborate arrangements to ensure free and fair polling.

Mr. R. Shashank Goel, the Telangana Chief Electoral Office (CEO) said, a total of 20 companies of central forces in addition to the personnel from State police were deployed to ensure security arrangements.

Meanwhile, a total of 30 candidates are in fray to contest for the Huzurabad MLA seat.

It is to be noted, after the resignation of Mr. Eatala Rajender as the Huzurabad MLA and the TRS member, the Huzurabad Assembly seat fell vacant. With the political tension between Mr. Eatala Rajender and the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Huzurabad by election is said to be a serious battle between the BJP and the TRS. Since Mr. Eatala Rajender joined the BJP and is to contest the Huzurabad by election on a BJP ticket, the chances of victory of the BJP and the TRS are at 50-50. Both the parties are trying to get the attention of voters and gain the maximum number of votes for their respective MLA candidates.

The voting would continue till 5:00 P.M., in the evening and the counting of the votes would be held on the 2nd of November, following which results would be announced.
