Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project will be completed by December 2026. Speaking during a Legislative Council session on Wednesday, he revealed that the government has allocated significant funds, spending ₹4,500 crores in the last year alone, to expedite the project’s completion.

The minister highlighted the progress made, with one unit of the Phase 1 pumping station successfully commissioned on September 16, 2023. He added that Phase 2, 3, and 4 pumping stations are almost ready to start operations. Despite the investment of ₹32,000 crores so far, no land has been irrigated yet, and an additional ₹33,000 crores is required to finish the project.

The minister criticized the lack of progress under previous governments and emphasized the state’s commitment to irrigating 12.30 lakh acres under the project. He also addressed MLC Naveen Kumar Reddy’s concerns, clarifying that 50% of the work is completed.
