Amaravati: Minister Gottipati Ravikumar lashed out at the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for organizing protests against increased electricity charges, calling it “ridiculous” and “unprecedented.” He stated that such a trend has not been seen anywhere in the world and suggested that the protests should be held in front of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s house instead of collectorates.

Minister Ravikumar alleged that Jagan himself recommended the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) to impose the burden of higher electricity charges on the people. “Under the previous TDP government, Andhra Pradesh had surplus electricity. It’s common knowledge how Jagan destroyed the power sector with his reverse governance,” he remarked.

He further accused Jagan of purchasing electricity at inflated prices to benefit his close associates, claiming it led to the collapse of the state’s power sector systems. “Jagan’s mismanagement and corrupt practices have pushed Andhra Pradesh to its lowest point,” Ravikumar added.

The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing political tensions over rising electricity tariffs in the state, with both the ruling YSRCP and opposition parties trading accusations.
