Visakhapatnam: Home Minister Anitha (Vangalapudi Anitha) strongly criticized the opposition for politicizing issues involving young children, specifically referring to the controversy surrounding allegations of harassment at the Visakha Girls’ Sadan. Speaking after inspecting the juvenile home, she condemned the opposition for “throwing mud” at the situation.
Anitha had earlier sought a report regarding the claims made by the girls at the facility about harassment by staff members. During her visit, she engaged with the residents of the Visakha Juvenile Home, learning more about their circumstances. She confirmed that there are currently 56 girls at the facility, where they are receiving education and training in various skills.
Addressing concerns about some girls facing mental health issues, Anitha assured that the government is taking steps to ensure they receive proper medical supervision and care. “It is our responsibility to protect children,” Anitha emphasized, adding that the government was actively working to prevent any recurrence of the issues raised.
The Minister also took a strong stance against the opposition, stating that 80 percent of the accusations made by Vaikapa’s account were false. She accused them of spreading lies during the past five years and reiterated that those responsible for any wrongdoing would face punishment.
