BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao appeared before the Special Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court at Nampally in Hyderabad on Friday in the Formula E race case. The court later adjourned the hearing to October 30 after representatives of two companies named as accused failed to appear.
Former Telangana official Arvind Kumar, former HMDA chief engineer B.L.N. Reddy and sports consultant Kiran Malleswara Rao also appeared before the court. This marked KTR’s second appearance in the case.
The case relates to alleged financial and procedural irregularities in payments connected to the Formula E race held in Hyderabad in 2023. The ACB’s chargesheet names KTR as the first accused and puts the alleged amount involved at around ₹55 crore. The agency has alleged that HMDA transferred funds to Formula E Operations without following required procedures.
KTR has denied wrongdoing and defended the race as an effort to promote Hyderabad and the electric-vehicle sector. He has said he will appear whenever the court summons him.
