Kalki 2898 AD added another major honour to its record at the 72nd National Film Awards, held on September 22 in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The Telugu science-fiction epic won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
The award was presented to producer Chalasani Aswani Dutt, representing Vyjayanthi Movies, and director Nag Ashwin Singireddy. Both were honoured with the Swarna Kamal and a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh each, according to the official award list.
Released in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD became one of the biggest Telugu films of the year. The film combines Indian mythology with a futuristic world and features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in key roles.
The National Film Awards also recognised Kalki 2898 AD in another category. Nitin Zihani Choudhary won the Best Production Design award for the film. He received a Rajat Kamal and Rs 2 lakh.
The film’s National Award wins highlight the work of its director, producer and technical team, adding another national honour to its achievements.
