Committee Kurrollu and 35 – Chinna Katha Kaadu brought major recognition to Telugu cinema at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony held on September 22 in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.
Committee Kurrollu won the Best Telugu Film award. The honour was given to its producers, Pink Elephant Pictures and Shree Radha Damodara Studios, along with director Yadhu Vamsee. The film received the Rajat Kamal and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for each awardee.
The Telugu film 35 – Chinna Katha Kaadu also earned two National Awards. It won Best Children’s Film, with producer S Originals and Waltair Productions Pvt. Ltd. and director Nanda Kishore Emani named as the awardees. The film received the Swarna Kamal and Rs 3 lakh for each awardee.
The film also won Best Child Artist for Arundev Pothula, who received the Rajat Kamal and Rs 2 lakh.
The wins gave Telugu cinema a strong presence at this year’s National Film Awards ceremony.
