The people and farmers of Amaravati welcomed the decision of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to repeal the Three Capitals Law.

On the 22nd of November, Mr. Tirupathi Rao, the Leader of the Amaravati Joint Action Committee (JAC,) said, the people of Amaravati would welcome the order of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., if they are not planning any political tactic for this.   He addressed the media and said, the State Government should now work for the growth and development of Amaravati.  He also asked the ministers of the YSRCP and the State Assembly Speaker Mr. Taminani Sitaram to tender apologies to the people for making comments against Amaravati and farmers. 

Meanwhile, despite the decision of the YSRCP to repeal the Three Capitals Law, the Amaravati farmers would continue the organisedMaha Padayatra as per the schedule. 

On the other hand, the Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) officially withdrew the Three Capitals Law in the Legislative session. 

On the 22nd of November, Monday, the A.P., Government decided to repeal the law.  Later, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the same in the Assembly session.  

During the session, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the A.P., Government has not given up the idea of three capitals.  He said, “It is just an interval.  The State Government would come up with a new bill on three capitals taking legal and other objections into consideration.”

With unanimous votes, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly passed the bill to repeal the three capitals bill, passed in 2020.
