The Andhra Pradesh Government is scheduled to begin its budget session for the year 2020-2021 from the 16th of June.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced the same after discussing with the State cabinet ministers on the 11th of June.

During the Cabinet meeting on the 11th of June, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) approved the Assembly session.

The budget session would be short in the wake of the pandemic crisis due to the deadly Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, it was postponed.

Initially, the Andhra Pradesh Budget session was scheduled to be held in the month of March, however, due to nationwide lockdown imposed on the 24th of March.

The session would commence on the 16th of June with the Governor’s speech to both the Houses, the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.

After the Governor’s address, on the 17th of June, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, the Finance Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) would present the budget for the year 2020-2021.

The Assembly session would discuss the tabled budget for two days, the 17th of June and the 18th of June.

The budget session  is likely to continue till  for a week, but the Business Advisory Committee will then meet to decide the duration of the session.  However, the budget session would not take place on the 19th of June, due to the Rajya Sabha elections.

The first phase of the Rajya Sabha elections would be held on the 19th of June.
