Andhra Pradesh Reports 111 New COVID-19 Cases, Total At 8.87 Lakhs

Andhra Pradesh reported 111 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to over 8.87 lakh while two fatalities pushed the toll to 7,152 in 24 hours ending 9am on Wednesday.

The State also reported 97 more recoveries, a health department bulletin said.

Anantapur and West Godavari witnessed one death each.

With 33,808 tests, the total number of tests conducted in the state so far stood at over 1.29 crores.

The total confirmed positive Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases were 8,87,349 while the recoveries stood at 8,78,828.  In addition, the State has 1,369 active cases.

In 24 hours, Krishna district accounted for the most number of cases with 19, followed by Chittoor and West Godavari with 16 and 14 each respectively.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh is conducting the nationwide vaccination drive, with two India made COVID-19 vaccines.

The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive started from the 16th of January. 

 

The two India made and Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved vaccinations (COVAXIN and Covisheild) are being administered to people.   While COVAXIN is manufactured by the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited, Covisheild is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII.) 

The drive would continue in a phased manner.  In the first phase, all health workers would take the vaccination. 

Under the ongoing vaccination drive of the Novel Coronavirus, nearly 20.29 lakh healthcare workers were vaccinated till the 26th of January.
