The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested Mr. Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former State Minister.

Besides Mr. Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu, his son Rajesh has also been detained by the AP CID officials in connection with forgery case in the State.   Mr. Ayyannapatrudu and his two sons, Chintakayala Rajesh and Chintakayala Vijay allegedly forged a document for the construction of a wall at their residence.

The arrest was based on an investigation conducted after a complaint registered against the TDP leader and his two sons.  It is reported that the CID had registered a case on the complaint of the irrigation officials that Mr. Ayyannapatrudu and his sons Vijay and Rajesh, had submitted a fake certificate to the High Court during the demolition of their house wall.  It was also alleged that the duo had occupied the Ravanapalli irrigation canal and constructed the house illegally.

The arrest of the TDP leaders created a political chaos in Andhra Pradesh, with constant criticism of the TDP against the CID and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

In regard to the arrest, Mr. Sunil Naik, the Director Inspector General of CID held a press conference and gave an explanation of why Mr. Ayyanna and his son Rajesh were detained.

On the 3rd of November, during the press conference, Mr. Sunil Naik said, “Mr. Ayyanna and Mr. Rajesh have been detained in accordance with the law.”  He further added, “No objection certificate was made by forging the executive engineer’s signature in relation to the 2 cents of land charge involving Mr. Ayyanna and his two sons, Chintakayala Vijay and Chintakayala Rajesh.  Mr. Ayyanna allegedly summoned the AE to his home for this reason and made him submit to attestation.”

Notably, Mr. Ayyannapatrudu Chintakayala and his sons were detained and registered under sections 464 and 467 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
