Condemning the tragic fire incident in Eluru, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced an ex gratia to the victims.

On the 13th of April, a  massive fire broke out at the Akkireddygudem Porous Chemical Factory in Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh.  According to sources, approximately 6 people lost their lives and nearly 18 people received serious injuries.  The injured are being treated at Vijayawada Hospital and others were taken to Nuzvid Hospital, in Andhra Pradesh.  According to preliminary information, the fire broke out due to a gas leak in Unit-4, due to which the reactor exploded.  

After being reported about the incident, firefighters and the National Defence Response Force (NDRF) personnel rushed to the scene and took relief measures to bring the blaze under control.

Meanwhile, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the incident and announced Rs. 25 lakh for the deceased victim’s families, Rs. 5 lakh for those seriously injured and Rs. 2 lakh for those who got minor injuries.  Furthermore, the State CM directed Mr. P. Prashanthhi, the District Collector of Eluru and Mr. U. Ravi Prakash,  the Superintendent of Police of Eluru, to conduct a full investigation into the incident.  The Chief Minister suggested that the injured should receive full medical assistance. 

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences for those affected by tragic fire incident.  Taking to Twitter, Mr.  Narendra Modi said, “Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a chemical unit in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly.”
