Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 18th of October, Monday, held a review meeting. During the review meeting, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) President, discussed the coal supply, power crisis and other issues of the State.

The State CM also ordered the government officials to focus on the power generation projects, to take immediate action for the realization of projects including Sealer.

According to the Central Electricity Authority’s coal reserve report four days ago, the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station in Andhra Pradesh has increased to 65,400 metric tonnes.

The Thermal Power Station has 20,900 metric tons. It comes in a day. The Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station has 75,700 metric tonnes of coal, which is enough to generate electricity for five days. Also, 21,300 metric tonnes of coal in Simhadri can be used per day. The State’s thermal power plants require 42,000 metric tonnes of coal per day to operate. Last Wednesday, the 13th of October, 53,245 metric tonnes of coal was supplied in 14 racks. The aforementioned details of coal storage were given by the Andhra Pradesh Energy Department.

The official also said, the Government has taken steps to make full use of hydropower, which would be used to generate electricity. With this, Genco would receive 25 million units of electricity per day from hydropower projects, while Srisailam Kudigattu canal would receive 15 million units through seven units with a capacity of 770 MW.

This would help the concerned authority to produce 8 million units from Sealer and another two million units are being produced from other centers.

It is to  be noted, if followed as per aforementioned paln, on all, the State currently has a power demand of 185 million units.
