On the 10th of July, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government removed two Deputy chief ministers from important key portfolios.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) transferred K. Narayana Swamy and Dharmana Krishna Das to the Finance Department. Previously, the two Deputy chief ministers were in the Revenue Department. While Mr. Narayana Swamy was looking at the Commercial Taxes Department, Dharmana Krishna Das was looking at the Registration and Stamp Department. However, with the change of the department, Mr. Narayana Swamy and Mr. Dharmana Krishna Das would look after the Prohibition and Excise Department and the Revenue Lands Department, respectively.

Now, both the Deputy CMs would work under the Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy. With this, the Revenue and Registration department would now be under the Finance Department and would report to the Andhra Pradesh FM.

In regard to the changes in the departments, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das issued an order recently to have more synergy of resource mobilization with the Finance Department. The order read, “All the related Heads of Departments and autonomous organisations like Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Director and Inspector General of Registrations and Stamps and the AP VAT Appellate Tribunal (Visakhapatnam) are also attached to the Finance Department henceforth.”

Meanwhile, the Governor is yet to issue a notification on the change of subjects of the two Deputy Chief Ministers.

The decision to change the portfolios of the two ministers, who were handling the commercial tax department and registration and stamp department was taken to avoid any confusion.

The Commercial Taxes and Registrations and Stamps departments were under the Revenue Department till date under the jurisdiction of a Special Chief Secretary.

However, now, the Finance Department would be handling the matters of these departments under the Secretary rank officer N. Gulzar of the 1999 batch. The decision to make these changes were based on a file circulated by the CM’s Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash.
