Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 6th of May, instructed the concerned officials to increase COVID-19 facilities in the State.
He also instructed the officials to provide 50 % of beds to Aarogyasri patients under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government.
The 50 % of beds would be given to patients in the YSR Aarogyasri empanelled hospitals and non empanelled hospitals notified by the District Collectors.
In regard to this, the YSRCP Government conducted a meeting over COVID-19 situation and vaccination drive.
Chaired by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the meeting discussed COVID-19 treatment. The CM said, beneficiaries of YSR Aarogyasri scheme should be provided free of cost in all the empanelled hospitals and there should be clarity on the beds available in Aarogyasri hospitals. He wanted COVID Care Centres to be set up near all COVID-19 hospitals.
According to the official data, there are 108 government hospitals, 349 corporate empanelled hospitals, 47 corporate temporary empanelled hospitals and 94 private category hospitals in the State for COVID-19 treatment.
The total number of beds in 598 hospitals stood at 48,439, of which 41,517 were occupied and 6,922 beds were vacant. A total of 24,500 COVID patients weare being treated under Aarogyasri scheme.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy CM and Minister for Health Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, the A.P., Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das, COVID-19 Command Control Chairman K.S. Jawahar Reddy and the Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang.
