Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is scheduled to launch the most awaited flyover of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

On the 18th of September, the Andhra Pradesh Government, would launch Kanaka Durga Flyover, a dream of the citizens of Vijayawada.

The Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari would attend the inauguration event through video conferencing on the 18th of September.

The news of Nitin Gadkari’s presence for the flyover’s inauguration was confirmed by Kesineni Nani, the Member of Parliament of Vijayawada through his official Twitter handle.

MP Keshineni Nani said, “Nitin Gadkari will come to the event.”

Work on the Kanaka Durga flyover was started from the 22nd of November, 2015 under the then ruling Government, the Telugu Desam Party.

However, due to delay in payment, the construction was halted. The construction once again started under the leadership of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

Initially the launch date for the Kanaka Durga flyover was the 4th of September. However, due to the demise of late Pranab Mukherjee, the former President of India, Andhra Pradesh Government announced five days of mourning, delaying the inauguration.

Recently, from the 13th of August to the 15th of August, the State Government conducted the trial run on the bridge.

The test was carried out for the long 48 hours with as many as 24 lorries filled with sand / concrete weighing 684 tons and other vehicles.

The bridge is 2.3 km in length and 24 m in width with a construction cost of Rs. 458 crores. The funding for the construction has been done under the Central Government and the State Government.

The bridge would be functional from the 18th of September.
